To change the background used in the game windows, press the Options button in the game selection panel (or use the button in the speed bar).

When the Options dialog becomes visible, select the Background tab. Solitaire Plus provides the ability to use a solid color gradient, a selection from one of 104 built-in tiled backgrounds, or a custom image of your choosing for the game background. The selected tab becomes your current background preference when the dialog is closed.

  • For the Solid Color(s) option illustrated below, simply click the color boxes to access the MacOS X color dialog and set the colors as desired for the game background. You may choose to enable/disable the gradient color per your preference. A preview is provided.

  • For the Tiled Image Selection illustrated below, choose one of the tiles in the scrolling list or choose "Random Selection" for a different background selection chosen at random each time you open a game window.

  • For the Custom Image option illustrated below, use the "Browse..." button to navigate to a location on your computer's hard drive and select an image. If the "Stretch Image to Fit the Game Window" box is checked, then the image will be sized to completely fill the game window. Otherwise the image will be displayed actual size and tiled as necessary to completely fill the game window.

You may also drag and drop a file from the Finder onto the custom image in the dialog to specify the image to use for the custom background.

NOTES

Solitaire Plus includes a collection of 104 built-in tiled images in the registered version. There are also many sites on the Internet that provide free collections of images suitable for personal use as backgrounds. Make your own folder of images from such sources, or images of your own, and use the Custom Image option to use them. Some collections of backgrounds on the Internet that are free for personal use include:

http://www.grsites.com/textures/

The custom image you select must remain in the same location on your computer, otherwise the next time you play the game the image will not be available. If the image is not available, the background will become transparent. Simply select a solid color, a built-in tiled image, or select another custom image if this occurs.
